HomeExpenses Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 2, 2026. HomeExpenses is a personal-finance tracking application operated as an independent application project. Privacy inquiries: [email protected].
What information we process
- Account information: usernames, account identifiers, login/recovery email or phone, Telegram connection, and authentication metadata.
- Financial information you enter or approve: expenses, income, amounts, currencies, categories, descriptions, dates, budgets, balances, commitments, debts, savings goals, notes, and generated reports.
- Optional bank SMS/payment notification content collected from your device only when you activate the related Android permission and app capture setting. Review and confirmation may be required before adding an expense.
- Optional audio, receipt images and financial context submitted to AI features, plus usage and cost records.
- Diagnostic/security information used to maintain the service and troubleshoot failures.
Why we use your information
To provide expense tracking, salary-cycle calculations, forecasts, budget and goal management, optional bank-notification capture, AI assistance when invoked, account recovery, security, support and required operational reporting. This is a financial management tool, not a bank and not a payment initiation service.
Service providers and external AI
Application data is hosted using Railway infrastructure and a PostgreSQL database. Our public website is served using Cloudflare. When you submit the website account-deletion form, the website relays your request securely to our application backend; the website code does not intentionally store your password. Email verification or support messages may be delivered through an email provider (Resend, when configured); Telegram is used if you choose to link that account. User-requested AI features may send relevant financial text, prompts, voice transcriptions or receipt details to configured AI processors, including OpenAI or DeepSeek. Only invoke AI features if you agree to that external processing. Their security and retention rules also apply to data they receive.
Advertising and analytics
During the current beta, HomeExpenses does not send individual financial transactions to advertisers and has no active advertising-data export. A future group-level insights preference, if displayed, is optional and off by default; selecting it does not authorize undisclosed advertising or individual financial profiling. Any future advertising use will require a separate updated explanation and consent when applicable. User names, account identifiers, exact transaction amounts and raw bank notifications will not be sold as advertising datasets under this beta policy.
Security and visibility
We use HTTPS for mobile connections, protected sign-in credentials, access controls and encrypted application-created backup ZIPs when configured. Some on-device captured payment queue data is protected using Android Keystore. Financial records in the live PostgreSQL database are not end-to-end encrypted or encrypted field-by-field by HomeExpenses. Authorized database administrators and hosting operators with appropriate privileges may technically access them. Do not assume that the developer is technically unable to view records. User-exported CSV/PDF reports may be readable on the device or wherever you share them.
Data retention and deletion
Account and financial information is stored while your account remains active, unless you delete records. When you successfully delete your account, HomeExpenses removes associated rows from its active application database, revokes app sessions and attempts to delete per-user backup ZIP files stored on its application volume. Deletion from hosting-provider infrastructure snapshots, earlier downloaded backup copies, and records already supplied to external processors may follow the relevant provider's backup and retention schedules and cannot always happen immediately. Operational/security logs and correspondence may be retained where necessary to maintain security, resolve legitimate disputes, or comply with applicable law. Contact us for details about a specific request.
You can request account deletion within HomeExpenses under Account → Privacy & data → Delete account, or without installing the application through the public account deletion page. If you cannot sign in, use the privacy contact email to start a verified manual deletion request. Account deletion removes access to financial records and cannot be undone from the active database.
Your choices and rights
You can disable notification capture in Android and app settings, stop using AI features, change optional future insights preferences, export applicable data, and request correction, access or erasure via the privacy contact. Jordan's personal data protection legislation may provide additional rights. If you have a privacy concern, contact [email protected].
Updates
If processing materially changes, this page will be updated with a new effective date. We will obtain separate consent where required.
